Jean’s Grey Sneakers and Let’s Boogie

Twice weekly Grey Sneakers fitness classes are conducted each Wednesday and Friday.

The Wednesday class is 8.00am to 9.00am. The Friday class is 8.30am to 9.30am.

The aim of the class is to provide light, weight bearing (light weights and resistance bands) exercise, to increase bone density and other benefits, such as to stimulate muscle growth.

Engaging your body with light weight bearing exercises may also protect your joints, increase your co-ordination and improve balance and flexibility.

Weekly Let’s Boogie is a dance class with a difference.

The difference is a wide range of movement including choreographed dance steps set to incredible music from the 60s, 70s, 80s and to date.

This Latin inspired choreography uses many fun, low impact movements from such dances as Samba, Rumba Disco and Jive.

The 50 minute class includes an appropriate warm up, thoughtful choreography, and a relaxing cool down.

The class is for those who like rhythm, expression, and low impact movement.

You don’t need to be a dancer, (or have a partner), just move your body and have fun.

The dance floor is wooden, so if you have dance shoes by all means bring them. If not, wear non-grip shoes (i.e. not joggers/runners as you want to be able to glide across the floor with your new found skills).

Jean is a former Open Amateur champion in Australian Dance Sport and has over 16 years of training and experience in all Latin, New Vogue and Modern (AKA) Ballroom dance styles.  Jean is a former pupil of the late Les Bielsby, who was a former Queensland and Australia Ballroom Dance Coach.
